Eira Kathleen Torbitt was taken from her earthly home in Bethel Park
to her eternal home. She was under the care of Family Hospice. She was
born in Swansea, South Wales in 1922. During World War II she managed a
wallpaper store until it was bombed out and then became a welder. She
became supervisor of a line making gasoline cans for vehicles. She
compared the neat lines of welding with sewing which she did through the
years.
During the war she met her husband John Torbitt who was an American
GI stationed in Swansea prior to the Normandy invasion. They married and
returned to his family home in Pittsburgh. He left this world for the
next July 25, 1998.
Although she was raised a Baptist she joined the Concord Presbyterian
Church in Carrick along with other family members. Very much a woman of
faith she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as President
of the Women’s Association, and was elected as a Ruling Elder. She also
was active in the Carrick Mother’s Club and enjoyed playing Bridge. An
avid reader Kathleen worked for many years in the book department in
Kaufman’s downtown store.
She is survived by her two children. Her daughter Myra Kazanjian,
recently moved to Bethel Park with her partner Maggie Ritchey. Myra’s
son Matthew Kazanjian and his wife Julie, along with her son John
Torbitt and his wife Debbie Christman Torbitt, reside in the Atlanta
area. In addition, she was much loved by her nephew Glenn Baggley and
his wife Dorothy of Sewickley.
She was also beloved by her late sister Myra Wisby’s children Anita,
Jane, Heather and Stephen and their families all living in Wales. Her
sister Joan Harris and her husband Peter who lived in Canada also
predeceased her.
Kathleen was a member of the Whitesboro Presbyterian Church located
at 1 Elm Street, Whitesboro, New York 13492. She was also remembered by
members of the Concord Presbyterian Church in Carrick and The Sixth
Presbyterian Church in Squirrel Hill. Memorial contributions may be made
to a congregation of your choice.

Jeanne was strong willed and independent and was a cancer survivor at
90. She came to America as war bride from England. An avid knitter,

volunteered with Carrick Meals on Wheels and worked in the Women's Land
Army during WW II and drove an ambulance during the war.
In 2008, she received a special commendation from the British Government
acknowledging her contribution to the war effort.

Daniel Lee "Danny"
Huddlestun 58, of East Liverpool, OH died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at
Nentwick Convalescent Center following a brief illness. He was born in
East Liverpool, OH on December 4, 1954, the son of the late Charles and
Trecia "Pat" (Minor) Huddlestun.
Living his entire life in the
area, Mr. Huddlestun worked as a Food Prep in the Food Service Industry.
He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1974 and belonged to
the Order of DeMolay's. He attended Kent State University, Jefferson
Tech, The Career Center and graduated from the Clark, Gilbert and
Silverthorn School Cosmetology. He attended Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving
is his brother, Jeffrey Huddlestun and his wife, Shirley of East
Liverpool, OH; two sisters, Janice Wilson and her husband, Darrell of
Imperial, PA and Karen Dickey and her husband, Donald of East Liverpool,
OH; six nieces and nephews, Nancy Stanny of Imperial, PA, Michelle Beck
of Oakdale, PA, Dana Beaumont of Columbus, OH, Patrick Dickey of Stow,
OH, Angel Orr of Morgantown, WV and Brian Huddlestun of East Liverpool,
OH.
Besides his parents a nephew, Jeffrey R. Huddlestun preceded him in death.

COLBERT VERNON LAURELL, SR. Age 92, of Carrick, departed this life on
Monday, September 26, 2011. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary
A. Colbert, with whom he shared 55 years at their home in Carrick. He
raised four children, Vernon (Judy) Colbert Jr., Barbara (Achilles)
Vassilicos, Elizabeth (David) Beck and James (Maureen) Colbert; all of
whom, along with his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren,
will miss him greatly. He came to Pittsburgh on a paddle wheel steam
boat and stayed to raise a loving family. Hunting, fishing, golfing and
anything outdoors were his enjoyments, which he passed on to his

George worked hard at his career as a Teamster Local 249 Truck Driver
for Eazor Express and West Penn Laco. He also loved to collect and
display model trains, enjoyed working in his yard, and relished the
challenge of repairing anything. He was also an active member of the
